Cats: Small Carnivorous Mammals
Cats are small carnivorous mammals and the only domesticated animal in the Felidae species. The term "domestic cat" is frequently used to distinguish it from the wild members of the Felidae species.
Lifespan of a Domestic Cat
The typical lifespan of a domestic cat is roughly 12–14 years. A cat's life expectancy relies on a variety of factors, including health, food, and environment. Some domestic cats, nevertheless, can live for up to 20 years.
The median lifespan of females is two years longer than that of all men (15.0 vs. 13.0 years) in what is by far the most thorough study (of over 4,000 cats) with complete longevity records (O'Neill et al., 2014).
Oldest Cat Ever
According to the Guinness World Records, "the oldest cat ever is Creme Puff who was born on 3 August 1967 and lived until 6 August 2005 - an amazing 38 years and 3 days! Creme Puff lived with her owner, Jake Perry, in Austin, Texas, USA".
As a curiosity, Jake Perry was also the owner of Grandpa Rex Allen, the previous record holder.
